Repair a Hole in Vinyl Siding

Q: How do I repair a hole (approximately three inches in diameter) in the vinyl siding on my garage?

A: You need to have the entire panel replaced. However, it is extremely unlikely that a new panel will match the siding that has been fading on the house, even though it comes from the same manufacturer. So if the hole is in the front of the house where it is highly visible, the siding company you hire will probably need to replace it with a panel taken from somewhere in the back of the house. Then the new panel can be hidden well in the back, on the bottom, or behind some shrubs.
