Q: I am putting up white pine novelty siding and I am not sure what kind of nails to use and how it should look. Should the nails be set in or on the surface? The siding is going over sheathing with Tyvek and 1/2 inch cellutex. Thank you for your time.
A: If this is on the exterior of the house, always use
galvanized nails because they will not rust. If your new siding
is tongue and groove, use galvanized finish nails which will be
hidden in the tongue side of each piece and automatically covered
by the next section.
