Q: I have hardboard siding
on my home, which is warped, mildewed, rotted, and in general
bad shape. I know there are a number of hardboard siding manufacturers
who are currently involved in class action lawsuits. My siding
has only one identifiable mark on its smooth backing, the number
2011 84. The siding is lap siding 12 inches wide by 12 feet long
and has three sculptured (pressed) laps approximately 3 3/4 inches
on each of the 12-inch wide boards and a thickness of 3/8 to 1/2
inch. It has a 1-inch lap for installation overlap and three or
four laminate plies. Any suggestions??
A: Thanks for your inquiry. I found a website for the Defective Hardboard Siding Information Center at: http://www.4w.com/siding/. It looks like they can help you identify the type and manufacturer of your siding and help you file a claim.
