Q: My newly bought home is old and the foundation has settled, making the backyard walkway uneven. This in turn causes flooding in my backyard from rain running off of the lawn. Should I just pull up the old cement walkway or level it out with new concrete?

A: I recommend you consult some landscaping contractors. They could best suggest drainage and/or replacing the concrete to prevent the flooding, and give you bids for the work. Talk to about three contractors and collect written bids detailing their scope of work and the materials they intend to use. This is almost always the best way to determine how to tackle a project, fair prices and the professional you prefer to hire.
