Consumers need storage tanks for three primary reasons: to store petroleum/fuel products, chemicals or water. The material to be stored determines the type of tank needed; petroleum cannot be stored in plastic and some chemicals cannot be stored in metal. There are also regulations regarding the storage of petroleum products. Once a manufacturer knows how much of what kind of material the consumer wants to store, they can recommend the size and type of tank needed.
