Q: I am in need of someone to do sheetrock repair, new countertops, and painting inside my home, but do not know where to start. Is there a particular place to start and do I contact a contractor or a handyman?
A: As a rule, it is best to hire as few contractors as possible, and when it comes to repairs, most contractors appreciate as much work as possible. So I would start by trying to find a general contractor who will do everything, including the countertops, drywall repair and painting, or at least coordinate everything for you.
If you can't find such a person, then you may have to hire a carpenter to install the countertops and then a painter who will repair the drywall and paint (many painters offer both services).
