Sloping Floors

Q: Our home has sloping floors. Part of the house was a pre-fabricated home (52x24) and has been added onto several times. The main area is anywhere from 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch lower than the additions. This will be temporary as we intend to tear the house down in a couple of years and build a new one. How can we fix this, and how do we go about doing it?

A: What I do in a situation like this is install sleepers. You can use 2x4 material and you scribe it to fit on the floor to a level mark that one has already marked around the room. One must allow for 3/4 inch tongue and groove plywood also.

However, this is very time consuming and expensive. If you are going to tear the house down in a couple of years, my advise is to just try to live with it. It will make you appreciate your new house even more.
