Q: I need help. I am trying to find a manual to study for a general building contractor license. Can you help?

A: Every state has different laws and regulations, but if your state licenses general contractors, then your state will have a book of regulations that you could study.

However, that would be quite an undertaking! I think if you look under trade schools in your Yellow Pages, you will find contractor schools that will teach you what you need to know to pass the test. (They often guarantee you will pass the test or be able to take their course again for little or no charge.) Or else you could contact your state's contractor licensing agency and ask them to provide you with a list of schools or classes.

Good luck!
