Before you move, check the measurements and assess the condition of your appliances and electronic equipment. If they won't fit your new home, don't move them! Shop for new appliances to suit your new location.

Does your fridge door swing to the right or to the left? It should swing the right way for your new kitchen. Are your current appliances in good condition? Are they energy efficient? If not, here are some reasons to replace them:

You'll save moving costs and get worry-free new appliances.

New appliances are often more energy-efficient.

If your family has grown you may need bigger appliances.

Empty nesters might want to think about downsizing.

Does your refrigerator meet your needs? New models offer shelving that adjusts easily, deep door shelves, ice-making, water-filtration and more. Here are more appliance thoughts:

For your fridge, consider side-by-side doors, or a bottom freezer.

Gas or electric range? Some cooks swear by gas, others prefer electricity.

Consider a stovetop, counter top grill, a convection oven or even a speciality oven.

Other Thoughts

Exhaust fans: if the fan doesn't push enough air out, it's time for a new hood.

Microwaves: Put your microwave oven close to the power source and leave air space around it.

Quiet dishwashers are great, with variable wash functions to clean delicate china or greasy pots.

TVs are getting bigger and clearer every year. But before you invest in a new home entertainment system, measure carefully and make sure your new home has space for it.

If your new living room is small, invest in a smaller TV with the best picture you can afford. With bigger rooms that have longer sightlines, you might enjoy a larger flat screen TV

Keep new neighbours in mind when installing your speakers. They may not appreciate your music.

If funds are limited, make a plan for upgrading, so that when you buy new equipment it will be compatible with your existing components.

'Bookshelf' units are all-in-one stereos. The sound quality of today's compact speakers is impressive.

Start fresh with the right appliances and electronics for your new home -- right from the beginning!

Tankless water heaters use 20% less energy than conventional water heaters and only heat the water when you need it. Controls allow the water temperature to be changed instantly, as desired by the user. While tankless water heaters cost more up front than conventional tank water heaters, they will cost less to run than conventional water heaters in the long term. As well as using energy more efficiently, they can often last two times the life of a conventional tank.

Tankless water heaters will help set your home apart from others if you decide to sell. With the green revolution in full force, many home seekers favor green-friendly homes over those with conventional, energy-wasting appliances and features.

What Exactly are Tankless Water Heaters?

Tankless water heaters are a new product in North America. While they have been used in Europe and Asia for over 20 years, they only broke into the US market within the past decade. They are becoming increasingly popular because they save homeowners both money and energy. Tankless water heaters are small units, usually mounted on a wall. They work on gas or electricity to heat your water as needed.

With a tankless water heater, you'll never run out of hot water. The water is heated as it passes through the unit's heat exchanger. When you open the hot water tap, the unit begins to heat the water within a few seconds. It continues to deliver hot water at a constant temperature for as long as you need it.

Types of Tankless Water Heaters

There are three types of tankless water heater applications: single-point application, multi-point application and whole-house application. The single-point is used just for one fixture, such as a kitchen sink. The multi-point is used in a room where more than one application is needed, such as in a bathroom (sink and shower). The whole-house application is used when a single heater heats water for the entire house. The installation of even one single-point tankless heater can make your home more attractive to potential purchasers.

Safety

Home seekers with young children are drawn to tankless water heaters because of the temperature control feature. Unlike conventional tank water heaters, it's simple and convenient to adjust the water heat settings. This is a safety feature, as it can prevent scalding accidents.

Space

One reason tankless water heaters are popular in Europe and Asia is that they take up less physical space than conventional water heaters. When a traditional hot water tank is not required, space is freed up in the basement or garage. Home seekers will notice the additional space created by a tankless water heater.

Location

Your location will determine how much of a value a tankless water heater can be. If you live in a colder climate, the incoming water will be colder, and a greater rise in temperature will be needed to heat the water. In warmer regions, such as in the southwest, homeowners are seeing significant energy saving benefits from installing tankless water heaters. In some households, the savings can be as much as $50 a month.

Tax Credits

A US federal tax credit is available to homeowners who install an approved tankless water heater by December 31, 2010. The tax credit is 30% of the full purchase price, up to a maximum of $1,500. Contact your state energy office or local utility service providers for more information about tax credits and rebates in your area.

Cost

The cost to install a tankless unit can vary greatly, but generally ranges from $2,000-$4,500, installed. Installation should be completed only by licensed plumbers who have experience working with tankless units.

Wood is perhaps the most practical of all flooring materials. But over time, the protective finish may wear off. This occurs most noticably in heavy traffic areas, or you may decide to freshen up the finish of a wood floor that's been hidden under carpet for years. Also, applying a modern new finish can make hardwood floors much easier to maintain than when they were originally installed.

Anyone who's tackled a refinishing job can tell you it's a
mess, starting with the removal of the previous finish. Service professionals have the knowledge and experience to give your wood floors a quality new finish. They have the proper equipment to handle the job efficiently, including power sanders to remove the existing finish and to prepare the wood to accept new stain.

Floor Finish

To determine whether your floor's finish is shot or simply dirty, try this simple test. Go to a high-traffic area where the finish takes the most abuse. Pour a tablespoon of water onto the floor. If the water forms beads, the floor is properly sealed. At most, cleaning and stain removal is needed. If the water takes a few minutes to seep in and only darkens the floor slightly, the finish is partially worn. Don't wait too long to refinish the floor. If the water soaks right in and leaves a dark spot, it's time to refinish.

Floor Stain Options

There are many different stain colors available. Although color charts are helpful, what looks right printed on paper will always look different on its intended surface. Stain will also look a little different on refinished flooring than on a newly installed wood floor, but proper sanding will help it accept the stain better. Try several different stain colors on a sample of the same kind of wood as your flooring to get a good idea of the final result.

Once you think you have found the stain color you want, take some home and try it in an inconspicuous place, such as inside a closet, if possible. Be sure to wait until the stain is dry before you make any decisions. (Paint often dries darker than it looks at first when it's wet, but stain will usually dry lighter.)

Wood floor stains can come in a variety of shades and colors. Here are some options:

Natural looks like bare wood.

Light is a very popular shade of stain because it darkens the grain and adds a subtle tone to the wood. It often has a slight tan hue to it.

Medium is another popular choice. It's darker than the light, so both the grain and the wood will have an obviously darker pigment, commonly a medium-brown hue.

Dark is usually a very dark brown and has a very rich feel.

Custom is any color besides tan/brown/sand.

A monitored home security system protects your family from the dangers of:

Intrusion through any door or window.

Smoke or fire.

Carbon monoxide leaking into your home.

Water damage caused by broken pipes or bad weather.

A medical emergency or panic situation.

High quality monitored security systems are encouraged by insurance companies, who will often offer a discount on your home insurance costs if you have a system in place. Today's monitored systems:

Ensure prompt response to a break-in, fire or hazardous situation.

Let you summon help with a button that activates a silent alarm or a siren.

Allow two-way communication. If you trip the alarm accidentally, you give the operator a security code and cancel the alarm.

One study suggests that homes with monitored security are three times less likely to be burglarized. Complete systems protect in many ways:

Perimeter alarms give early warning of an intrusion.

Glass-break detectors and door/window contacts detect entry through basement, ground floor or other windows.

Strategically located infrared motion detectors make sure an intruder will be detected.

Your system can tell you where the intruder is, or was.

Loud sirens will scare the intruder away, or silent alarms can alert police without the intruder knowing.

Warning decals on points of entry can scare off a would-be burglar.

Investing in a monitored security system could make a big difference to your family's peace of mind. You could feel safer in just a day or two!

Desk or Writing Table

A generous writing surface makes work easier. If you use a table, you'll need storage for supplies and files. You can make a functional desk with a sheet of plywood and two filing cabinets.

File Drawers

Either drawers in your desk, or a separate cabinet. Boxes the right size can work, too. Consider whether you need legal- or letter-sized drawers.

Telephone

Consider a wall-mounted model to save desk space. Post emergency numbers (fire, police, poison control) right by the phone. Do the same for every phone in the house.

In Box

For items you haven't looked at yet.

Out Box

For items to be mailed, or given to someone else.

To File Box

For items to be filed (not too much later, please).

Waste Basket / Recycling Box / Paper Shredder

A big wastebasket will work wonders for helping you stay organized!

Writing Utensils

Pens, ballpoint, fountain or felt-tipped (various colors)

Specialized Record-Keeping Books

Account books, check registers, etc. as needed

Stationery Supplies

Highly reflective, as the name says, has more of a mirror image and is best used for reducing outside glare. Window films are applied to the inside of the windows.

Window screens have come a long way in a few years. In addition to keeping insects out and letting air in, they can now protect you and your possessions from sun damage. Here's an overview of what's available.

Traditional insect screens have been around for years performing their duties, but they now also cover doors and porches and are available in metal and fiberglass mesh in different colors of frames and fabrics. Insect screens typically only cover the part of the window that opens.

Solar screens are made in several qualities of mesh in a variety of colors to reduce UV rays to lower cooling costs and reduce damage of carpets and home furnishings. Solar screens cover the entire window, not just the part that opens.

Solar screening is a unique woven mesh that can block up to 90% of the sun's hot rays before they enter your windows. It is excellent for use on windows, doors and porches. Sun shading is made of strong, extremely durable, vinyl-coated polyester fabric. It was developed originally for use on outdoor furniture, and premium designs are resistant to mildew, fading and some pet damage. It only needs occasional cleaning with mild soap and water.

The relatively new retractable/roll screen system is a simple and effective way to provide a bug-free closure for any opening, including windows and sliding doors. It was originally designed for French doors that traditionally didn't have any bug protection or security for pets. The retractable/roll screen system also be made with solar screening fabric. Dark colors are more effective than light colors on exterior screens, while light colors are more effective on interior shades.

Retractable screens also offer uncompromising visibility. They can be installed on virtually any opening swing-in or swing-out, double doors and vertical or horizontal windows. Retractable screens will close and retract out of view when not in use.

This guide should help you decide whether window replacement makes sense for your home. It explains various window features and can help you select appropriate windows and a professional and competent window contractor.

Introduction: A Word of Caution

Many homeowners are bombarded with sales pitches about thermal replacement windows. Because the window replacement business is often more profitable than other home service businesses, there are many companies "pushing" windows in the marketplace. Window firms, as a group, are among the most aggressive marketers, and are likely to rely on telemarketing and high-pressure sales tactics. As a consumer, you must be careful or you may find yourself fooled by some smooth operators.

While many of these companies devote a lot of time and energy to marketing, the installation end of the business may get less attention. This can be a big problem for you. If installed improperly, the best window in the world may yield results no better than the old one you're replacing.

Why Replace Your Windows?

The No. 1 reason people replace their windows is to save money on utility bills. The second biggest reason is that good quality replacement windows deliver large savings in maintenance costs. Many people are simply tired of wrestling with old windows that are hard to open and close or that won't stay open. When old windows need scraping, new putty and repainting, it's an ideal time to consider replacement. Replacing windows is also an opportunity to upgrade your home in terms of style and resale value. In the rest of this guide, we'll look at each of these issues in some detail.

1. Saving Money on Utility Bills

Window salespeople make many claims about energy savings. Are they true? Good quality windows, installed properly, can yield substantial energy savings. How much you save depends on the type of window you choose and the type and condition of the windows you are replacing. In the average home, 38% of the heat loss is through windows and doors. If your home has drafty single-pane windows or single-pane aluminum sliders, the heat loss from windows may be as much as 50%. The poorer the performance of your old windows, the more dramatic the savings and the sooner energy savings alone would recover the cost of your investment.

Many technologies contribute to a window's overall thermal performance. We'll describe the main ones here and explain U-factor ratings. The U-factor rating allows you to make decisions without becoming an expert on all the latest technologies.

Opening style

Many people don't realize that you don't have to replace your old windows with new ones that have the same opening style. Air leakage in and around windows is a big factor in the window's overall thermal performance. In terms of air leakage, the best window is fixed; that is, can't open or close. There simply aren't any gaps and openings for air to find its way through. While useless for ventilation or for escaping a fire, fixed windows may be an excellent option in certain locations. Nearly as good are "casements" or awning style windows that crank open and closed. Because the seals are compressed slightly when the window is closed, it is difficult for air leaks to develop. The least efficient opening style is sliders. Many people select sliders simply because that is what they've always had. There are plenty of good sliders on the market, but they have to rely more on other features, such as low-E coatings (see below) and more glazing layers, to deliver top energy performance. Sliders, which have more joints and gaps, are also more susceptible to air leaks as the seals age and get worn or lose their resiliency.

Frame material and construction

As much heat can be lost through the frame as through the glazed (glass) portion of the window. Both wood and vinyl perform well, whereas making a metal frame that contains heat well is difficult. Metal frames are generally stronger, which becomes a factor in commercial applications or with extra-large windows. For normal size residential windows, most homeowners choose vinyl or wood.

The frame is the key to the long-term structural integrity of the window. If the frame warps or cracks, the window's performance can suffer enormously. With vinyl windows, avoid frames that are held together with screws because they tend to loosen over time. Instead, look for "welded" seams, where either heat or chemicals have been used to fuse the joints.

In terms of energy savings, wood and vinyl are comparable. Some people prefer the aesthetics of wood, though it lacks the maintenance-free aspect of vinyl.

Glazing layers

Most older windows are made with a single layer of glass. The most popular replacement windows are made with two panes of glass. Some people opt for triple-pane windows to maximize the improvement in thermal performance. Added layers improve performance in two ways. First, enclosed air and other gases (see "Fill Gases" below) are effective insulators. The more enclosed spaces the window has, the less heat can escape. Each layer of glass also provides more surfaces for low-E coatings. Some windows use a plastic film suspended between two layers of glass to achieve a triple-pane effect at a lower cost.

Low-E coatings

Low-E coatings are nearly invisible finishes that are usually applied to glass. They let through most of the light humans can see, but block much of the heat-intensive infrared light, thus improving the window's insulating value. Some windows have the low-E coating on a film suspended between two layers of glass, creating the effect of a triple-glazed product.

Fill gases

While plain air is a good insulator, some gases (like argon, krypton and carbon dioxide) are even better. The gas or combination of gases affects the window's overall thermal performance.

The NFRC rating system

Fortunately, the National Fenestration Rating Council has developed a rating system that considers nearly all of these factors. One element the NFRC rating system doesn't account for is the long-term durability of the product because it rates the overall window only when it is new. The NFRC gives each window a U-factor rating. The U-factor is the inverse of the more familiar R-factor used in attic insulation. So a U-factor of .5 equals an R-factor of 2. The lower the U-factor the better.

Some typical U-factors:

Window type/U-factor

Old metal casement/1.3

Good quality single-pane/1.0

Good single-pane with a storm window/0.6

Double-pane (low-E)/0.4

Triple-pane (low-E)/0.25

When comparing windows, check for the NFRC label. Look for the U-factor. The first number after the words "U-factor" is the rating that's appropriate for residential purposes. It will be marked "AA" or "Residential." The U-factor marked "BB" or "Non-Residential" is for commercial window applications. Use the U-factor rating to make meaningful comparisons. Be wary of a window vendor who won't provide this number.

How far should you go? Obviously, you need to get price comparisons to make a decision. Keep in mind that a good portion of your cost is installation, so it makes sense to leverage those costs by installing a better window. Here are some guidelines:

Buy a double-pane window with a low U-factor when:

You don't expect to live in the home long.

You have less expensive gas or oil heat.

You expect energy prices to remain stable or drop.

You expect to have more income in 10-15 years.

Buy a triple-pane window with a very low U-factor when:

You expect to live in the home for 10 years or more.

You have more expensive electric heat.

You expect energy prices to rise sharply.

You expect to have less income in 10-15 years.

What about durability?

The NFRC ratings don't address durability directly. If the windows warp, leak or loosen over time, their U-factor ratings are likely to plummet. Your best resource for choosing a durable, problem-free window is to rely on the advice of a reputable installer. If reputable, he or she will be interested in your long-term satisfaction and will quickly steer you clear of windows that don't hold up well.

You can also inspect the window before buying. Look for a good fit between parts. Slip a business card between any slidable sashes and the frame. The card should slide but there should be some resistance.

Low U-factor ratings and durable construction are both determined by attention to details. In general, the better-rated windows will be better made as well.

2. Saving Money on Maintenance

New windows can save you money on maintenance in two important ways. First, if you choose vinyl windows, you can eliminate the cost of painting the windows inside or out. In a typical painting project, the most expensive part is painting the windows. Eliminate the need for that and your painting costs will be reduced.

The outside of most modern replacement windows is designed to be cleaned easily from the inside. If you wash your own windows, you'll save yourself a lot of time and eliminate a major safety risk. If you normally hire a pro, you may find you can do it yourself with these practical new windows.

3. Easier to Open and Close

Many older windows are tough to open or close. Wrestling with recalcitrant old windows is a common cause of back injury. In many old windows, the springs and weights that ease the load and allow the window to stay open (unsupported) no longer work properly. A new window should operate smoothly with little exertion.

4. Opportunity to Upgrade the Home

When considering replacing windows, recognize that this is an opportunity to improve your home in more observable ways than just lower fuel bills.

With better quality windows, you may be able to increase the overall window area, making your home lighter and more open. Special touches like curved windows or stained glass can give a room special appeal. Specialty products, like greenhouse windows and bow windows, can dramatically change the look and function of a room.

Windows can also come with films providing ultraviolet protection so that rugs, drapes, and upholstery are less susceptible to fading. Frosted windows are available to offer more privacy. There are even windows that go from clear to frosted at the flick of a switch!

Many new windows come with better locks and special catches that allow you to leave a window ajar without permitting a burglar to open it far enough to climb through.

Windows, especially distinctive ones, add considerably to the resale value of a typical home. While getting the entire cost back in increased resale value isn't likely, the odds are good that half or more of the cost will be reflected in the selling price.

What to Look for in a Window Seller

For a window to actually perform at the levels indicated by the NFRC ratings, it must be installed correctly. The new window must be installed exactly level and must be exactly square in the frame. Any gaps around the window must be carefully filled with insulation. If all this isn't done right, you may be wasting your money. Therefore, choosing a reliable company to handle the installation is extremely important. A big advantage of buying the window from the company that installs it is that there can be no passing the buck if there are problems. Whether the trouble comes from the window or the installation isn't something you have to worry about since one company is responsible for everything.

Many people are inspired to replace their windows when they see a great sale at a local home center store. Be careful! Often, the great prices you see are for bottom-of-the-line windows. Some well-known manufacturers make top, middle and "bargain" lines of windows. You're better off avoiding the so-called bargain line. Many homeowners can't get someone to install bargain windows because the pros don't want to be associated with an inferior product.

If you want to find a company on your own, be aware that being big or well known isn't always the same as being competent. In the window field, in particular, there are a number of firms with high profile names that have difficulty delivering consistently high-quality work. Beware of companies whose reputations come from ads rather than actual performance. Some large companies are more adept at generating sales than they are at managing installations.

Summary

Replacing old maintenance-intensive, energy-wasting windows is a decision that that makes sense for most homeowners. Window replacement is a major investment, so don't waste your money on an inferior window or an incompetent installer. Use the U-factor to make comparisons between windows, and hire a topnotch firm to do the job right. Done correctly, window replacement will save you money over time and add to the beauty and value of your home.

Each side of each sash on a double-hung window is counter-weighted to balance the sash's movement. A cord, rope or chain is secured to each weight, threaded over a pulley and attached to the sash. If the sash won't stay open, one or both of the ropes may be broken or the pulley may be stuck.

Hinges are the movable joints on operable windows that allow a sash to swing open. They are normally found on casement or awning windows.

A crank is found on casement windows. By turning the crank, you can open or close a window. If a sash won't open fully, odds are that the arm or the slot in which it moves is clogged with debris. The crank may also need lubrication.

A sticking window is a problem only on operable windows that open and close. The most common causes of a stuck sash are paint-bound edges, accumulated dirt and warped or swollen wood.

A jammed window is another problem only found on operable windows. Sticks and jams may be caused by debris (dirt, paint, rocks) stuck in the window track.

Over the years, both good and bad weather can damage window frames and seals. Leaks can occur in both operable and fixed windows. With operable windows, leaks can occur between the frame and the sash. Some leaks occur between the glass and the frame.

Whether you use glass or plastic, replacing a broken pane in a single-glazed window is fairly simple and possibly a do-it-yourself project. For double or triple-glazed windows, get a new sash from a building supplier or the manufacturer.

Like car windows, your home windows can be tinted to filter out certain aspects of sunlight.

Screens are only needed with operable windows. Screens can keep bugs and leaves out of your house when the window is open.

Moisture can be found on double or triple-glazed windows that have more than one layer of glass and can be caused by a crack in the outer glass or a leak within the seal.

Pane glass is traditionally used for windows and entry doors.

Acrylic or Plexiglas is sometimes used as a substitute for doors and sliding doors. While difficult to break, Plexiglas scratches easily and can look rough and unclear after a relatively short period of use.

Glass blocks are generally used for decorative purposes in walls and entry ways.

Thicker glass may provide more insulation in cold weather and may be a bit more resistant to breaking.

Energy-efficient options: Low-E glass has a virtually invisible metallic coating that reflects heat and protects carpets and furnishings from fading by reducing damaging ultraviolet rays from the sun. Even more efficient insulating windows have Argon gas, a natural, colorless, non-toxic gas that is sealed between glass panes. Insulating Low-E glass filled with Argon gas has about twice the insulating qualities of standard dual glazing. Solar bronze and solar gray tinted glass help keep out unwanted heat and ultraviolet rays. If there is a possibility of ultraviolet (UV) damage to floors, rugs and furniture, consider choosing a glazing that resists UV rays.

Heat Control Window Films

Polyester laminated films reflect the sun's near-infrared energy back through the window to help you stay cooler in summer. They also have a proprietary coating that reflects radiant interior heat back inside to help you stay warm in winter. Remember to have film applied to all the windows of an enclosed room to achieve optimum comfort and energy savings.

Security Window Films

There is a new dimension in window film technology for property and personal protection against crime, violent weather and accidents. Today, protecting yourself and your property is more important than ever.

New safety and security films are tough, durable, and create a tear and penetration-resistant shield that bonds to the inside of your windows for protection. The film helps hold the glass together to reduce the chance of glass shards from falling or flying out even under direct forces from winds, or impacts from flying objects, or breaking and entering.

This information can clarify and help answer some questions about window shades and blinds.

Consider a house call: Because projects such as installing new blinds or shades throughout a house are a major investment, both for re-sale value and emotional satisfaction, you may want to make all your decisions yourself.

But working with a designer or even a consultant from your local home improvement center can help clarify your ideas and maybe keep them from mushrooming into an unnecessarily complicated or fussy project. These specialists work with the products and understand their value and limitations. They can add practical suggestions that will enhance your choices.

Personality Plus: Different types of window coverings convey different personalities, so you might think about using old-fashioned and comfortable drapes in a bedroom; efficient mini-blinds in a kitchen; warm wood blinds in an office or study and inviting vertical blinds over a sliding patio door. You can get ideas in any home magazine or consult a designer for help clarifying your needs for each room.

Mounts: Blinds or shades can be mounted either inside or outside of your window frame. An inside frame makes for a cleaner look because the blinds will be flush against the wall and also seals the opening better for insulation. An outside mounted blind or shade sticks out from the wall. Some window frames are too narrow to allow an inside mount, so make sure you have enough space for them.

Shade features: Shades and blinds come with a wide variety of special features. Take a look at the following list and see if any of these extras catch your eye. Top down/bottom up is how a blind opens. Top-down is when the top of the blind opens first and then moves down the window with the blind gathering at the bottom of the sill. Bottom-up is the more standard approach the blind opens first on the bottom and then moves up to the top of the sill.

Remote control is a popular option. Most shades are opened by pulling on a string. Remote controls take the manual work out of opening and closing windows by adding a motor to the shade.

Cord loops are another way of opening shades that are ideal for larger shades. The continuous loop eliminates the need to gather the cord when you open a shade. Cord loops tend to be more durable and stronger than a standard cord pull.

An extension bracket is a mounting that extends a blind past the frame of a window. You usually find this on outside mounts for vertical blinds.

Hold down clips are a nice little feature that keeps the blinds from flying around if the wind rises. Hold down clips are often used for doors.

Two (or more) blinds on one headrail are often used with multi-unit windows that have more than one window sitting side-by-side. Designers created this feature so that the individual blinds covering each window have a common valance. This gives the window treatment a unified look.

Valance is a piece of material that runs across the top of the headrail. It's a common feature in window treatments because it gives the blind or shade a finished look. Room darkening is a feature found on cellular shades that will completely black out all light from outside. The other common style with cellular shades is light-filtering. This screens out the harsh glare of the sun but still allows light to filter through. Privacy is a nice feature on mini blinds. It hides the holes normally found in the blinds so that no light comes through when the shades are closed. The slats even close tighter, which gives the blinds a very sleek look.

Taking off the shades: Generally, existing blinds and shades are fairly easy to remove, so it's a reasonable do-it-yourself job. However, many service professionals will provide this service for a small extra charge.
